I am a big fan of metaphors. With metaphors, you can transform a complex problem into a concrete relatable and easy to understand, comparable scenario. By doing so you can first fix the scenario and hence translate this solution back into reality. The complexity could imply some extra drawbacks and complications, but at least you have a direction you can hold on to whilst conquering these complications.
To my visual thinking is a great assistant in communicating and creating these metaphors. As soon as you can come out of the head and on to the paper, you have a tool that enables constructive communication.
